Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, B.C., Angus's academic journey is as diverse as it is impressive. He is an alumnus of the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia (UBC), and the University of Alberta, bringing a well-rounded and comprehensive perspective to our team.
Angus embarked on his educational path at UBC, earning a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Conservation before delving into accounting. His passion for law then led him to the University of Alberta, where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2015. During his time in law school, Angus demonstrated his commitment to serving the community by working with Student Legal Services of Edmonton, providing legal assistance to low-income individuals. His exceptional dedication and service did not go unnoticed, earning him prestigious awards such as The Emery Jamieson LLP Award and The Honourable William J Haddad Q.C. Award.
With fluency in Cantonese-Chinese and conversational skills in Mandarin-Chinese, Angus's linguistic abilities further enhance his effectiveness in a diverse work environment. His career post-law school has been marked by a commitment to excellence. He has worked closely with criminal, family litigation and corporate law clients across Canada. His experience ranges from general counsel for corporations to handling complex legal matters such as taxation issues in the Tax Court of Canada and First Nations issues in the Federal Court of Appeal of Canada, making him a versatile and invaluable asset to kaiv. In addition to his professional pursuits, Angus continues to give back to the community by serving on the Board of Directors for an Edmonton-based technology company and a national investment corporation.
